Literacy in Science

The term “ecological succession” was a term that my 8th Grade class never learned in any of our textbook and when this term appeared on a practice state test, I realized that building literacy in Science is very important for our students’ success. I started to build a database of these terms with  clear explanations (verbal, visual, and textual). Below are some of the terms:

1.      Ecological Succession
Ecological succession - (ecology) the gradual and orderly process of change in an ecosystem brought about by the progressive replacement of one community by another until a stable climax is established

2.       Convection
Heat transfer in a gas or liquid by the circulation of currents from one region to another.

3.       Dynamic Equilibrium
